It was a treat to re-visit this mosaic I designed ten years ago. Marvelled again at the skill of the mosaic makers and the dedication of the company that commissions such major works.
I was in London for the launch of my show at Goodman Gallery, which curiously shares some of the interests that motivated the mosaic: our relationship to land, our sense of roots, wherever we migrate to. 'Coming to the City’ is centrally about London as a magnet for diverse populations of migrants, as it has been throughout its history. My paintings are explore the related themes of our fugitive traces.
